2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. The COVID-19 Pandemic has gripped the entire world and healthcare professionals have been at the forefront of the fight against the new virus. The world is gradually adjusting to a ‘New Normal’ and medical education is not far behind. The undergraduate MBBS teaching and assessments are now being conducted online and the efforts of medical teachers in maintaining the continuity of teaching learning is commendable.
The editorial article of this issue ‘Coronavirus, ushering a new Era’ is a detailed review article discussing the characteristics of the virus, the pathogenesis of the infection, its symptoms, diagnosis and prevention. JOMA remains committed to promoting student-led research and the first article in this issue is a student research publication which discusses In-vitro evaluation of a novel derivative combination antimicrobial against pan-resistant gram-negative bacteria. Other articles in this issue cover a wide range of topics ranging from the role of robotics in healthcare of the future to the prevalence of ocular morbidity among primary school children and from combating plagiarism in nursing research to internet addiction among undergraduate medical students. This issue also includes interesting case reports including a case series on Eschar in Scrub Typhus and a case report on splenunculi duplex.
I congratulate the editorial board for their untiring efforts in publishing this issue during these challenging times and I wish them the very best for future endeavours.
I would also take this opportunity to thank the authors for submission of their research work. We are working towards indexation of JOMA in reputed online directories like DOAJ & Scopus for enhanced journal viewership and access.
