The second section discusses on the preoperative preparation before colorectal surgery, anesthetic management, and postoperative management required after colorectal surgery. The third section is about the various colorectal disease processes like diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, rectal prolapse and intussusceptions, hemorrhoids, constipation, anal incontinence, Hirschsprung disease, colorectal anomalies, pediatric colorectal conditions, anorectal abscess, fistula-in-ano, pruritus ani, fissure-in-ano, pilonidal disease, sexually transmitted diseases, polyps, and malignancy of the colon, rectum, and anus. It also gives a detailed description about some of the important colorectal conditions like colonic volvulus, ischemic colitis, radiation bowel injuries, and colorectal trauma. All these disease processes are well summarized with table contents, flow charts, and stepwise images of the surgical procedure.
