The book titled “Ophthalmology” discusses about the anatomy, physiology and the diseases identified with the eye. Eye diseases are amongst the most common conditions observed in the hospitals. Once they are diagnosed, then majority of the eye diseases can be treated. Chapter 1 discusses about the anatomy, optics and physiology. Chapters 2 and 3 explain about the ophthalmology in practice and diagnostic algorithms. Ophthalmology in practice emphasizes on history, examinations, investigations, diagnosis and treatment. Diagnostic algorithms explains red eye, loss of vision, double vision, watery eyes, pupils of different sizes. Chapter 4 till last chapter, are divided on the anatomical basis which described by starting with the clinical scenario and providing related examples on how these conditions are present in the clinical settings and also explained different diseases of each respective anatomical part. Refractive apparatus discusses about the refractive errors that are the most common cause of blindness and also refraction that is a manifestation of the eye’s refractive components (the cornea, aqueous humour, lens and vitreous humour), refractive indices and the length of the eye. The different anatomical parts explained are orbit; eyelid and lacrimal apparatus; conjunctiva; cornea and sclera; lens and its diseases; uvea; retina and its diseases; optic nerve and visual pathways; and ocular motility and pupils.
