The book Pocket Tutor Emergency Imaging is written to help students, trainees and clinicians interpret imaging results when investigating common emergency clinical conditions. Optimum patient care requires not only that the radiologist understands the clinical needs of both patient and referrer, but also that the clinician understands the value, risks and limitations of specific imaging tests. The book deals with the common emergency presentations. Key radiological anatomy, types of abnormalities seen and the importance of interpreting the normal result are all presented in a clinical context. The opening chapter explains the principles of emergency imaging and patient safety considerations, including some elementary physics for the common imaging modalities. The next two chapters present the building blocks for understanding normal and abnormal images. Lastly, the clinical chapters are divided into subspecialties, and concisely describe the common emergency conditions, each illustrated by high quality radiological images. A brief reminder of key radiological anatomy is given at the start of each clinical chapter, as a quick reference guide. Clinical insight and guiding principle boxes throughout the text draw upon our own clinical experience in managing these emergency conditions.
