Renal Medicine

by David Oliveira, Stella Woodward

This book deals with the “Eureka Renal Medicine”. Renal medicine has a reputation as a difficult speciality: complex biochemistry and acid–base disorders, the mysteries of glomerular disease, challenging sick patients with acute kidney injury, and so on. Many problems, such as chronic kidney disease, are common and encountered in most clinical specialities, and contribute a considerable burden to health services. This book consists of 15 chapters. The book “Eureka Renal Medicine” demystifies the subject by providing a thorough grounding in the core anatomical and physiological principles in chapter 1, followed by the key clinical skills required in chapter 2. Subsequent chapters explain approaches to the common problems that we have found helpful in clinical practice. In each chapter detailed cases explain how an experienced physician would approach a patient. Throughout the book boxes provide useful clinical tips, figures explain underlying pathology clearly and graphic narratives show real-life experiences. The final chapter consists of single best answer questions based on clinical reasoning, designed to test your knowledge and help you to revise.
