by William H Dean, John Sandford-Smith

This book describes simple cost-effective procedures appropriate for countries with limited resources. The initial chapters deal with surgical training, operating theatre procedures and equipment and the preparation for surgery. The later chapters describe the surgical techniques used in the treatment of cataract and glaucoma as well as surgery of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea and the lacrimal drainage system. Surgical management of eye trauma, eye surgery in children and evisceration, enucleation and exenteration are the other topics that are discussed in this book. The indications for a particular surgical approach, the surgical technique, post-operative care as well as post-surgical complications and their management are discussed in each instance.
