Rhesus Isoimmunization

The aim of this monogram is to try and understand the pathology so that, by instituting appropriate treatment, cases of isoimmunisation can be prevented. The book deals with the detailed diagnosis, prophylaxis and management of Rh isoimmunisation as well as the discovery of Rh factor, the recognition of its clinical importance and the practical application of knowledge in therapy that has developed in the last few years.The serological and imaging evaluations in rhesus negative pregnancies have been covered in detail including amniocentesis. Ultrasound can today detect all cases of life-threatening anaemia in the foetuses and hence optimize the need of surgical interventions and intrauterine transfusions. This can help to prolong delivery upto 37 weeks of gestation and hence decrease the perinatal morbidity and mortality, all of which have been discussed in detail. The current practices in neonatal management and the choice of appropriate prophylaxis too have been covered.
