The purpose of bringing out Nursing Manual of Nutrition and Therapeutic Diet is to help graduate, undergraduate and nursing students in planning the diets of the patients according to their disease conditions. This is a reference book prepared especially to help the students to prepare a concise and elaborate teaching notes according to their needs on the subject of nutrition and therapeutic diet. A cursory look of the book can enable them to plan “menu” for the requirement of individual patient according to the nature of disease. The chapters on Constituents of Food and its Function, Food Requirements, Planning for Nutritional Needs and, Diet and the Patient have been dealt exhaustively keeping in mind the above purpose. In addition, chapters on Diet therapy in various health disorders also serve the same purpose. The discussions on nutrition for geriatric people, industrial workers and obese persons deserve special mention.
