The book “Short Textbook on PG Introductory Course in Health Sciences” is a simple and comprehensive reference book. It starts with an introduction explaining the need for introductory course and postgraduate. Chapter on routine for a new postgraduate discusses departmental routine, institutional routine, inter-departmental routine, journal club, subject seminar, pedagogy and lesson plan. Time-table for 3 year postgraduate course is given in year-wise for the general course as well as for academic course. Major principles, rules, practice of medical and bioethics, laboratory animal ethics, ethical review committee and ethical problems in AIDS, children, mentally ill are explained under the topic of medical ethics involved in postgraduate work. It also explains about cohort study, clinical trial, case control study, nature of topic to be selected and college level activity in study design. Basic requirements for preparation of synopsis of dissertation/research are discussed. Biostatistics for the dissertation/research and prevention of hospital acquired infection are also discussed in two different chapters.
