Abstract

Day case surgery/anaesthesia is much popular nowadays. Procedures appropriate for day case anaesthesia are those associated with minor procedures requiring minimum postoperative care and can be managed at home, usually with low rates of complications. These patients should have a standardized system of preoperative assessment including routine investigations. Anaesthetic management is mostly similar to that used elsewhere, but one should try to avoid the side effects as far as practicable. The patient is considered fit for discharge when he is fully awake and without any serious side effects like vomiting, pain, bleeding, etc.
