Abstract

Disorder of the endocrine glands can cause a wide variety of clinical conditions and can present major anaesthetic problems. Endocrine dysfunction may be the primary indication of surgery or may co-exist in patients requiring surgery unrelated to endocrine disorders. This chapter deals with common endocrine disorders of endocrine pancreas, thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. These patients require meticulous preoperative evaluation and skillful anaesthetic management in intraoperative and postoperative period.
