Elderly patients are always at great risk of perioperative complications due to age related concomitant medical diseases and a generalized decline of organ functions. These patients require adequate preoperative assessment, control of diseases if any, skillful anaesthetic management and careful postoperative care. Their psychological, physiological and pharmacological changes should be taken into account.
