Post-operative management of the routine patient after surgery is dealt with. Special emphasis is laid on monitoring vital signs, fluid replacement, diet, drains, catheter, antibiotics and analgesia. Tips are given on tailoring food intake as per surgical procedure performed, physiotherapy, wound care, and prevention of bed sores. Detection of complications like, haemorrhage, Pelvic haematoma, Urinary complications, Complications of GIT, Cardiac complications, Infection, Thromboembolic diseases, Wound dehiscence and incisional hernia are just touched upon.
