An overview of common risk factors and complications in the peri and post operative periods is given. In cardiovascular complications, postoperative hypertension, hypotension, myocardial ischaemia, and arrhythmias are touched upon. Airway obstruction, a common post-operative event is described. Hypoxemia, and thromboembolism are also briefly described. Nausea and vomiting, delirium and acute renal failure coming in the immediate post-operative period are described. Post-Dural Puncture Headache (PDPH) and other complications of spinal anaesthesia are briefly described.
