Abstract

Prevention of laparoscopic injuries by proper placement of verre’s needle is first described, with good illustrations. Different methods of trocar entries are then dealt with. Bowel injuries caused by trocar insertion are classified as primary and secondary. Intraoperative bowel injuries occurring during adhesiolysis are described. Tips on when to operate on bowel injuries are given, with guidance on when to do laparotomy and when laparoscopic closure of injury is feasible.
