Abstract

Abstract

Massive transfusion involve; replacement of 50% of the blood within 3 hours, replacement of blood volume within 24 hours, or transfusions of more than 20 units of red cells. In such situations, the transfusion service medical director plays a major role in the management of patients undergoing MT. The author provides guidelines for monitoring MT under various clinical conditions.
