Abstract

Ensuring blood transfusion availability and safety seems to be achievable goal. The WHO has responded to requests by Member-States that is should take the lead in promoting blood transfusion safety. The WHO is committed to safe blood transfusion. As one of its top priorities, it will continue to work with its partners, experts in blood transfusion, the WHO collaborating centers and other international institutions and organizations in blood safety to develop effective strategies and mechanisms to achieve the objectives of global blood safety.
