Abstract

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview on platelet morphology, physiology, function and dysfunction. It also covers various clinical tests used for testing platelet physiology and function, hematological disorders, such as hemorrhage, thrombocytopenia, Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia, von Willebrand disease and management of common clinical disorders by therapeutics as well as the use of platelet transfusion.
