This book was prepared as a comprehensive introduction and overview of gynecologic pathology for gynecologists preparing for their specialty examination and a well illustrated, state of the art review for experienced diagnosticians and academicians. It was written under the assumption that the understanding of gynecologic pathology represents the basic prerequisite for the practice of clinical gynecology. The authors, guided by the principle that one picture is worth a thousand words, have included hundreds of color illustrations depicting the pathology of all major gynecologic diseases. The book is divided into seven chapters; it the most important pathologic lesions of six major parts of the female genital system and the placenta. Each chapter begins with a brief review of the relevant anatomy and histology and continues with presentations of the most important diseases affecting that particular part of the body. Essential background information for the diseases, summary of clinical data, classifications of diseases and summary of gross and microscopic pathology are included and illustrated with color figures of gross and microscopic pathology, often times juxtaposed one to another. The text is often condensed into boxed summary tables, construed for a fast review of essential data. The important aspects of many diseases are marked with asterisks and labeled as \"pearls\". This book will help gynecology residents and practicing gynecologists to better understand gynecologic pathology and allow them to correlate the pathologic findings with the clinical data.
