Abstract

To learn and understand the epidemiological, pathogenesis, diagnostic modalities and treatment for ocular tuberculosis. Extensive experimental work in rabbit model by Alan C Woods in 1960s elucidated the pathogenetic mechanism of ocular tuberculosis result from the hematogenous seeding from the primary complex or the secondary lesions that may develop, where the bacilli may remain latent for years before reactivation. 30 percent of infective uveitis seen in the tertiary referral centre in North India have a tuberculous etiology. Low dose systemic corticosteroids for 4 to 6 weeks, along with multidrug antituberculosis chemotherapy is help full in limiting damage to the ocular tissue from delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH). Elucidated with clinical case reports.
