Abstract

To learn and understand the evidence based survey in community for tuberculosis among children in relation to ARTI. India comes under a group of high prevalence countries with Annual Risk of Tuberculosis Infection (ARTI) ranging between 1 and 2.5 percent. Due to high prevalence, children are at a higher risk of contracting disease from the infected pool of adult cases. Five clinical criteria were considered relevant as predictors of tuberculosis disease among children viz, a positive skin test, undernutrition, history of contact with pulmonary tuberculosis, symptoms suggestive of tuberculosis and prevalence of enlarged lymph nodes. Through the magnitude and type of the disease met with among children cannot be considered as a major public health issue, the sheer numbers affected needs some attention.
