Abstract

To learn and understand the rationale for having a concept of Bi phasic regimen in short course chemotherapy. With increasing use of antibacterial drugs host and his immune response have become less important while the interaction between the TB bacilli and drug has come to dominate the sense. From the laboratory and control clinical studies it is found that multiplication of susceptible organism and total number of bacilli in sputum decreased rapidly specially with in the first week of treatment with appropriate three or more drug combination. If treatment is untreated or inadequate drugs are given during IP or if the bacilli are initially resistant there may be a failure during treatment and the development of additional drug resistance.
