Abstract

To learn and understand the clinical presentation, diagnostic tools and management of tuberculosis meningitis in children. TBM in children can have protein manifestations, for early diagnosis the index of suspicion must be high. The yield rate of Mycobacteria bacilli in CSF by AFB staining/culture is rather low meriting ADA, immunological and molecular method (PCR) for precise or rapid diagnosis of TBM. With the increasing prevalence of HIV, TBM is health concern not only in developing but also in developed countries. The development of drug resistance has added a new challenge. The early reorganisation and timely treatment of the disease is critical.
