Abstract

To learn and understand the pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of haemoptysis in tuberculosis. Haemoptysis originates from bronchial circulation in 90 percent and from pulmonary circulation in 5 percent of the cases. Bronchoscopy has the triple advantage of identifying end bronchial pathology and bleeding, localizing the site and efficiently controlling the active bleeding in TB. Mortality has been closely correlated with the volume of blood expectorated, the rate of bleeding, and the amount of blood retained within the lungs and pre-morbid respiratory reserve. Elucidated with clinical case reports.
