Pregnancy is a time of joy and anticipation. It can also be a time of anxiety and concern. While most pregnancies and child birth are uneventful, all pregnancies are at risk. The safe motherhood initiative of WHO recommends that skills of health workers should be improved through locally adopted guidelines and standards for the management of pregnancy and childbirth.
