Abstract

Ayurvedic concept about Research and Drug development is comprehensive, considering the patient, drug and procedure. The patient is viewed in body, mind and spirit aspects. The drug is viewed from its origin, ripening period, collection period, part to be used and form in which the drug is to be prepared. The procedure, i.e., SOP is typical to disease condition. The classical drug development in a real sense is studying of reverse pharmacology and the patent/preparatory drug development is the validation of drug as described about its constituents in classical books. Ayurveda is very much open to accept the new methodology and technology. In the present article, a comprehensive narration about research and drug development is presented.
