by Ashok Garg, John D Sheppard, David Meyer

Over one hundred years ago, the pioneers in the new field of allergy recognized that the eye was an important participant in the allergic response. In most of the cases it is difficult to distinguish those with ocular allergies from their look alike conditions. Approximately 90% of all Ocular Allergy cases are seasonal and are linked to pollen related allergies. In recent time there are lot of advances in understanding the mechanism of allergy and new anti-allergy eye drops which may see advances in efficacy, dosing frequency and patient satisfaction. In 20 chapters of this step by step book a number of leading International Ocular Allergy experts have shared their experiences, covering all aspects from Etiopathogenesis to various treatment modalities. One of the unique features of this book is the assembly of the collective wisdom of physicians throughout the world who have a special interest in ocular allergy. In addition, this book reviews basic immunology, which is a common feature of all ocular allergy, and it gives us the opportunity to read about new approaches to therapy that hold promise for the future. It will prove useful for ophthalmologists, allergologists and scientists working in the field of allergology.
