Abstract

Spent fixer solution contains silver; a toxic substance contributes to heavy metal burden in wastewater. Silver can contaminate the soil and groundwater. Hence dentists should minimize the amount of silver that enter waste streams. It should be disposed by BMP. Undeveloped film contains a high level of silver and must be treated as hazardous waste. Silver is a leachate toxin.
