Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the major causes of disability around the world and encompass a significant reason for the development of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis in both developed and developing world. There is also an expanding of the longevity. Conspicuously there is an increase in the oldest segment of society with these musculoskeletal diseases and disability. This rapid growth of elderly population with disability is a challenge to the fraternity of Physiotherapists. Musculoskeletal conditions leads to enormous cost to the community in economic terms, and these figures emphasize how geriatric physiotherapists need to look at ways of reducing the burden of musculoskeletal diseases by encouraging exercise with formulating and executing of therapeutic programs to deal with disability at the premorbid stage of disease to break the sequence of impairment, disability and handicap. This chapter is in an imperative need for a comprehensive approach to deal with musculoskeletal problems among geriatric population.
