CNS stimulants may be respiratory stimulants, psychomotor stimulants and convulsants. Respiratory stimulants may be used in acute respiratory failure and in apnoea in premature infants. Amphetamine, cocaine, methylxanthines are psychomotor stimulants. Nootropics are drugs that improve memory and cognition.
