This book is written with the upcoming cornea surgeons in mind who has to be inducted into the vast ocean of cornea. The book starts with development, anatomy, physiology and abnormalities of cornea with a note on DNA. Then it meanders through certain basic topics such as vascularisation, edema and healing of corneal injuries including chemical ones. Ocular surface disorders including dry eye which are assuming great importance now are dealt with in great detail. Corneal infection with a separate chapter on fungal corneal ulcer follows next. This includes a detailed discussion on viral infection also and its treatment. Deficiency states involving cornea, degeneration, dystrophies, corneal pigmentation, thesaurismosis and limbal tumours are described in detail including the features and treatment. Surgeries such as keratoplasty, refractive surgeries and prosthokeratoplasty occupy the next three chapters. Another chapter is devoted to sutures and suturing techniques. They are mentioned in a very detailed manner including the latest operations. The various modern investigative procedures are mentioned in a clear manner in the next two chapters.
