Superficial parotidectomy is indicated for benign tumors of parotid, malignant tumors of parotid and uncommon situations like parotid calculi, chronic gland or duct fistula. The operation is carried under general anesthesia with neck extended and turned to opposite side, by applying an adequate incision. The main trunk of the facial nerve is identified and followed forward. The superficial lobe is dissected off the branches of the facial nerve. Excision of deep lobe tumor requires meticulous dissection.
