Abstract

Pyloromyotomy is the standard treatment for infantile pyloric stenosis. Correction of dehydration hypochloremia and hypokalemia is important prior to surgery. The pyloric tumor is exposed by a transverse skin incision. On the anterior surface of the tumor an incision is made through serosa to split the hypertrophied muscle fibres. Watch for mucosal tear at the duodenal end which should be repaired.
