Surgery of bile duct may be required for bile duct stones (choledocholithotomy, though less indicated now a days because of efficient Endoscopic method), biliary drainage (choledochoduodenostomy, Transduodenal Sphincterotomy/Sphincteroplasty), bile duct injuries, and choledochal cyst. Bile duct injuries, present a challenging problem to the surgeon.
