Abstract

Fistula in ano has been classified into low fistula where internal opening is situated below the ano-rectal ring and high fistula where internal opening is situated above the ano-rectal ring. Most low fistula may be adequately treated by fistulotomy or fistulectomy. In case of high fistula Seton placement is required for supra-sphincteric part, after the lower part is laid open. Endorectal advancement flap repair has also been considered.
