Abstract

Most umbilical hernias in adults are paraumbilical. All paraumbilical hernias should be operated as they are liable to undergo complication. Umbilical scar is excised by an elliptical incision to expose the sac. Content of the sac is returned to abdomen. The fundus of the sac is excised. A standard Mayo type of repair with praline can be done for small defect. Proline mesh repair is done for large defect.
