Abstract

Many different paradigms have been proposed to explain the phenomenon of vision. The German Herman Von Helmholtz introduces the possibility that a subjective experience could play an important role in perceiving one’s surroundings and that there are variables that influence how we think about our visual capacity. This aspect must be examined during the preoperative consultation. It is very important to talk to the patient about what informed consent is or is not, so that before leaving the ophthalmic center he fully understands that it is a process which provides information and develops awareness in order that he may, of his own free will, decide whether or not to undergo surgery. Satisfaction with care relies on the different features of the health care received. The psychological aspect of satisfaction comprises a very important part of the evaluating the outcome of refractive surgery, yet it is the most difficult aspect to evaluate in as much as it is not based on measurable or verifiable factors. The institute decided to make a questionnaire and to divide it into four sections (personal section, general information, intervention and recovery and satisfaction). The manner in which patients deals with the survey and the consequent quality of their responses may also depend on the way in which they are involved in it. At the end of the data processing period, the questionnaire validation procedure was carried out. This took into account the problems encountered during the clean-up and coherence verification phase, the results obtained from processing and the information contained in that part of the questionnaire dedicated to its own validation.
