Textbook of Orthopedics and Trauma (4 Volumes)

by GS Kulkarni

This textbook has been designed to adequately cover all such conditions which are wantonly missing from the western textbooks. The discussion centers around the diseases and problems peculiar to the developing countries and covers all such aspects. Poliomyelitis and leprosy have been almost eliminated from this part of the world. Tuberculosis appears to be on the rise. Incidence of road traffic accidents is shockingly high. Conditions associated with trauma such as non-union (with or without infection), malunion, deformity, stiff joint, etc. are day-to-day taxing problems. Every orthopaedic surgeon encounters a large number of cases of neglected trauma, deformities, infection and even tumors of bone and joint. Poor conditions of operating rooms and poor quality of implants add to the complications of orthopedic surgery. Organized under the aegis of the Indian Orthopedic Association, a major section of the text has been written by experienced Indian authors and some special topics have been authored by the masters in their field abroad. Divided into four volumes, the textbook covers all relevant aspects of the subject in a comprehensive manner. The text is mainly address to the postgraduate students, residents and senior residents in hospitals and orthopedic surgeons practising in the developing countries of the world.
