Abstract

A 25 year-old woman is diagnosed with asymptomatic HIV in pregnancy at 10 weeks of gestation. Her initial laboratory studies show a CD4 count of 154 cells/ mm3. Choice of regimen will differ on the basis of absolute CD4+ counts of women. Regimen for prevention of perinatal transmission should comprise of three antiretroviral drugs. In these women three drug regimen will be: Zidovudine OR Stavudine PLUS Lamivudine PLUS Nevirapine.
