The lids are covered anteriorly by skin and posteriorly by mucous membrane, tarsal conjunctiva. The inflammatory condition of the lids are studied as blepharitis, vaccinia and molluscum contagiosum. The inflammation of the gland of the lids as Hordeolum or stye Hordeolum internum, Chalazion. Anomalies in the position of the eye lashes and lids are discussed under blepharospasm, trichiasis, entropion, ectropion, and ptosis. Benign growth, e.g. xanthelasma, naeous or mole, hemangioma, lymphangioma, neurofifromatosis and Malignant tumours as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and sarcoma are included briefly in this chapter along with 27 diagrams.
