Abstract

Ocular injuries are studied under the heading of traumatic and chemical. Traumatic injury is of nonperforating and perforating. Chemical injury may be due to the burn, poison gas, chemicals caustic lime, strong acids, alkalis, etc. Contusion and foreign body is mentioned under the nonperforating traumatic injury and its effects on the eye ball are included with its management. Perforating injury: With and without the retention of foreign body, the effect on ocular tissue are included. The effects of the retention foreign body on the ocular tissue is depends on the nature of retained foreign body, e.g. metallic, nonmetallic, organized material as wood and vegetable matter. Sympathetic ophthalmitis: Serious inflammation of the sound eye after the injury of the other eye. S/S and its management are included along with labeled diagrams 6 and 2 charts.
