Abstract

The pulpal disease is one of the major causes of the diseases of the periradicular tissues. The periapical diseases must be considered in the context of large category of diseases of the attachment apparatus of the tooth which includes cementum, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone. Periapical diseases can be secondary to occlusal trauma, or can be the result of combination of etiological factors. Thus periradicular diseases can be of endodontic or periodontal origin.
