Abstract

Intermediary restoration/provisional restorations are used in the interim between tooth preparation and fitting a definitive restoration. They are temporarily used or inserted, cemented or filled until final restoration is permanently inserted or cemented. Intermediate restorations are used to protect or treat the pulp, dentin and enamel surfaces. For example, with crown preparations intermediate restorations are usually essential to cover freshly cut dentin and prevent passive tooth movement. Also the intermediate restorations are placed to maintain the aesthetics, functions and the relations of the tissues.
