Abstract

Embryology is the study of development of embryo. There are two types of cell division—mitosis and meiosis. Formation of sperms from spermatogonia is spermatogenesis. Formation of ovum from oogonium is oogenesis. Ovulation is the process where mature ovum is released from ovary. Fertilization is the process whereby sperm and ova fuse to form a zygote. The three germ layers, i.e. ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm form different structures in the body.
