Abstract

In today\'s world, women want to stay active even during the time of their pregnancy. Women during their pregnancies are frequently involved in traveling both for short as well as long durations. Therefore, traveling in automobiles as well as airplanes by the pregnant women and the associated complications assume importance during pregnancy. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of fetal deaths related to maternal trauma. Various aspects of traveling in relation to its safety and potential complications related to them would be discussed in this chapter. This chapter also describes various measures for DVT prevention in pregnant women who have to fly during pregnancy. Role of seat belt use in reducing the potential adverse effects related to automobile crash injuries should be emphasized among pregnant women. It is important to convey the message in a supportive and positive manner. The chapter also covers topics such as automobile traveling during pregnancy, seat belt use during pregnancy, air travel during pregnancy and thromboembolism and its prevention.
