Knowledge of the individual differences helps the nurse to understand various reactions of patients towards illness and also helps the nurse to provide individualized care to the patients. To give a basic idea related to individual differences, focus in this unit is on similarities, and physical and psychological differences in individuals. Consideration is given to role of heredity and environmental influences on individual differences with special emphasis on individual differences in illness. This unit concludes with measurement of individual differences, educational and nursing implications of individual differences.
