Abstract

Neurological applications of Nuclear Medicine involve blood brain barrier imaging using perfusion tracers like 99m TC ECD and HMPAO. Eleven illustrative cases have been discussed. Most popular recent applications are use of positron emitters like 18F FDG for dementia imaging and detection of epileptic focus (interictal scan). Almost all agonist, antagonists and neural receptors have been labelled to diagnose pathologies like neurodegenerative disorders, substance abuse. High grade gliomas can be diagnosed and evaluated for response using novel tracers like 18 F FLT.
