Abstract

Insulin resistance along with vascular endothelial dysfunction gives rise to constellation of syndromes. PET studies with I-124 insulin may have a potential application in evaluating insulin resistance syndrome else of Tc-MIBI as a measure of mitochondrial density has been mentioned. Endothelial dysfunction starts early in life much before the development of structural coronary atherosclerosis. The chapter gives a detail insight into this aspect of the disease including treatment.
