Abstract

Animal models of human diseases have been of great importance in understanding the pathology of disease processes. Imaging of these disease processes by small animal SPECT and PET helps to translate findings of animal imaging to clinical medicine. Examples of humanised mice in translational biomedical research and experimental study of depression in animals has been described. It also has definite applications in drug discovery.
