Abstract

In this chapter, the current approach to diagnosis of latent TB infection (LTBI) using tuberculin skin test (TST) is first presented. The biology and development of interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) is covered in detail. The commercially available IGRAs their laboratory characteristics and current international guidelines for their use are described in detail.
